A Message from Our President

For a research institute like RTI, the measure of our value is our people. Our expert research and technical staff come to work every day—to the office, to the bench, to field sites around the world—to study complex problems, craft solutions, scale up innovative programs, and evaluate outcomes.

Owing to their expert knowledge, innovative spirit, and passionate dedication, FY2015 was our best year to date.

This year, I am particularly proud of our many accomplishments in areas of critical need—delivering research results and science-based programs to combat childhood obesity in the United States, enhancing the energy efficiency of U.S. Army installations, understanding global tobacco use, bolstering education in Indonesia, and strengthening governance in Uganda, to name only a few.

As we celebrate key project accomplishments alongside our funders, we also recognize the importance of investing in our staff members—empowering them to extend our impact and furthering our mission to improve the human condition. This year we introduced a leadership program and transformative framework—which we call Lead Forward™—to emphasize the development of our staff members as a central tenet to our organizational success in the future.

No matter how large we grow, one thing will always be true: Our drive to make a difference. This drive unites us, strengthens us, and brings our work to life.

The difference is our people, and we are proud of our collective efforts as we strive to improve the human condition across the world.
